Garrys Mod review

Well in terms of reviews i've been pretty dry lately. I haven't been able to do much Blarg wise because of other projects and lack of games I'm willing to review but anyway, I'm back, have a few reviews planned so let's get this show on the road.

Garrys mod is a new game created by PC Powerhouse Valve. How to explain Garrys Mod. Well, it isn't really that easy. Think of it this way. Imagine Bethesda created a game where you could drag random bits of the Fallout and Elder Scrolls universe and put them together to make whatever you want. This is what Garrys mod is apart from instead of Bethesda games they're Valve games. Meaning, you can actually use decent games and a be free from glitches and crashes. So essentially I could drag out a Manhack from Half Life and then blow it up with a Shoop da whoop like laser.

When you get Garrys mod for its low low price, you get the half life kit free and a variety of random content. You also get the "Toybox". It's essentially a folder of items created by your fellow players you can use in your level. These include maps, Guns etc. Today I killed 10 combine soldiers with a 300 Sparta Kick. There are LITERALLY infinite possibilities. Among my other creations are a couch with 100 baloons in an attempt to recreate "UP". I made a Gunship out of the air boat from half life.
So much for brotherly love...

Even when you're "finished" with some of the materials, Garrys mod picks up any Valve content on your computer and adds them in. For example, It picked out my Counter Strike Source and Team Fortress 2 and now I can use them too.

The Following video is essentially a showcase of what Garrys Mod can do. (It is a bit NSFW)

The multiplayer is DEFINITLY something to shout about. A lot of modded game modes are available, My personal favourite is called "Smash". The object of the game to avoid cannonballs being shot ( Which destroy the Stands you and your team-mates are on) survive and win. I see this game as a more in depth 3D Little Big Planet. If you enjoy open sandbox games like LBP or Minecraft, you'll fall in love with this.
Don't read too much into it...

So what did I like and dislike?
Liked
  1. Amazing depth of building inventions
  2. Loads content from other games
  3. Amazing Multiplayer
  4. Endless Possibilities
  5. Very Cheap price of 10 euro (For all the stuff you get, it's fecking worth it.)
Disliked
  1. Lack of tutorials which made it hard for me to start off.

This game gets a 9/10. It's spectacular and it's no surprise it's made it to the glory it has. Another home run for indie gaming.
My actual reaction to Garrys mod ^
