It's a Big Year for The Walking Dead...
A giant assessment on everything Walking Dead. The comics, TV show and video game all reviewed along with news of upcoming Walking Dead content...

God Bless America REVIEWED!
God Bless America is an incredibly insightful (yet ironic) look into the culture of our modern day society in which we praise the least talented and most idiotic as we see main character, Frank Murdoch (Joel Murray) slowly mentally collapse as he is driven more and more insane by this social degradation until one day he decides that he's had enough and decides to kill all these idiotic "celebrities" that have corrupted modern culture...

Regarding Sexism in Video Games...
Sexism in video-games... As most of you are probably aware, there is this woman who goes by the name "Feminist Frequency" on Youtube. On her channel, she discusses feminism under a variety of different mediums in todays world for example, Comic Books, Video Games, Tv Shows films and more and describes how these things are sexist. However Anita Sarkeesian...

Skyrim: Dawnguard First Impressions (Review Part 1)
So I didn't expect that I would have to do a two part review for Dawnguard, the first downloadable content for Skyrim, it's because the whole DLC is so big that it would require a two part review. Not that I haven't completed Dawnguard its just that the game offers two choices to the player and based on those choices the game offers completely different campaigns. And since I have completed one of them on my legitimate character I feel that I have only completed fifty percent of the DLC. My second part of the review will consist of the other choice.....

Saints Row 3 Review
Saints Row: The Third" is a delightfully humourous yet perfectly violent open world game from the gents over at Volition inc. You are the head of the famous gang known as "The Saints" and their meteoric rise to power in the town of Steelport by doing a variety of wacky missions such as hopping onto a dune buggy, lighting yourself on fire and crashing into other cars....

Bad News if you Pre-Ordered ME3 at Game

I have just learned that EA have decided to pull all of their future releases from being sold in the Retailer Game, in the UK and Ireland until further notice. Apparently, EA don't trust that they would receive the correct funds from each sale, given Game's current financial situation. (Which I wasn't aware was bad.)
The Bottom Line ?
Ok, the Bottom Line is that if you have pre-ordered ME3 at Game, your pre-order has been cancelled and you will be refunded with store credit. This decision is all down to EA choosing not to send any copies of Mass Effect 3 to Game.
Unfortunatley, this means that I will have to look elsewhere if I want to get it on release day. This especially sucks due to the fact it was the Collectors Edition I had ordered.
But anyway, just giving you a heads up.
More information about this can be found at the following link: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/02/29/ea-pulling-mass-effect-3-from-game/

Blog Update: Explanation for our Lengthy Absence

If you are reading this blog post, we appreciate you checking back to see what is going on around here.
Each and every one of you are Legends.
Why we've been gone for so Long
At this moment in time every blog member, apart from myself, are currently participating in their mock Leaving Certificate Exams. The mocks are basically a trial run for the actual Leaving Cert exams that take place in June. These exams are the last and most important exams that you have to do in secondary school here in Ireland. Basically they determine if you go to college. So as you can imagine, the rest of the lads are pretty busy at the moment and will be till June.
As for myself, I've just returned to college for my second semester and am getting settled back in again. Over Christmas I've been busy playing Saints Row: The Third, Assassins Creed Revelations, Skyrim and Uncharted 3. Since these games have been out a little while, I don't see much point in putting up Reviews for them. However, if any readers would like me to post Reviews for any of these games, simply say which game you'd like to see reviewed in the comments.
For the next few Months
For a little while longer updates will be a little slow. The next game I intend to review will be Mass Effect 3 which releases on March 6th. Mostly because I don't know of any other game releases before then that I'd be interested in.
I'll also post anything that I think will be of interest.
Before you know it, everyone will be back in full force by the end of June.
Stay tuned.

Mass Effect 3 Co-op mode Confirmed !

Yesterday, it was confirmed by Bioware that Mass Effect 3 will have its own Co-operative mode. I'm really excited about this because I've always wanted Mass Effect to have something like this. It's just one of those games that has a universe that you love to get lost in, and what better way to do that then with a few buddies.
Anyway, In this mode you will be playing as a character that you create from scratch and not Commander Shepard or any other character from the Single-Player campaign. You will however be able to choose from most if not all the species that we have encountered throughout the series so far. Human, Turian, Asari, whatever you want !
Now, if you're one of those people who's thinking, "Oh noes ! Adding co-op to Mass Effect must mean that the singleplayer will be paully wally crappy !", I would like you to pause for one minute, take a deep breath and continue reading. Bioware have said that, yes, the co-op mode does contribute to the ending of ME3, BUT, you can still achieve the complete ending to the game if you choose not to make use of the co-op mode.
I'm even more excited for this game now than I was before, and I hope you are too.
Thanks for reading !
Note: Sorry for the recent lull in activity on the blog, it's just the other guys are busy in their final year of school and I recently started college. I'll do my best to try and make up for the lack of posts.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Review

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is the first good new game that I've played All year. It came out at a moment when I was searching for a good singleplayer game to play.
Until this game was announced back in 2009, I had never heard of the series. Mostly because I was too young when the original came out. But after seeing the announcement trailer, I became intrigued by it. It looked like something different, something that had the potential to be very good.
Let me give you a little history on this series. Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a prequel to the very first game which was developed by series creators Ion Storm Inc and published by Eidos Interactive back in 2000. The first game, simply called Deus Ex, was critically acclaimed and won a number of Game of the Year awards due to pioneering designs in player choice. The sequel, Deus Ex: Invisible War, was not as acclaimed as the original but still received well by many critics.
With that little history lesson over, lets get back to the present, I mean the past, eh, you know, because Human Revolution is a prequel ? You no what, I'll try and keep the comedy to a minimum.
Anyway, Human Revolution is set in the year 2027, 25 years before the first game. You play as Adam Jensen who is head of security for Sarif Industries, the leading corporation in Augmentation research. Jensen became the Chief of security for Sarif after he left the Detriot SWAT team after refusing to follow a questionable order. During an attack on Sarif Industries, Jensen is critically injured and has no choice but to undergo radical surgery that fuses his body with these Augmentations
After being out of action for six months recovering, upon his return to Sarif Industries, Jensen is adament that he will find out who was responsible for the attack that left him mortally wounded and is hellbent on revenge.
The end result of Jensens Augmentations
The gameplay flows really well. The developers have what they like to call the "pillars of gameplay," which are Combat, Stealth, Hacking and Social". You can choose what way you want to play based on the way you upgrade your augmentations. Augmentations are unlocked and upgraded using Praxis points, which you can get in three ways. You gain Praxis points after you earn a certain amount of experience, by purchasing them from LIMB clinics (hospitals set up for those with augmentations) or you can find upgrade packs that are scattered throughout the game for you to find.
This is almost like an old school kind of game. It doesn't spoonfeed you all the information you need to get the job done, sometimes you have to find new ways to complete your objective which led me to trying things I normally wouldn't think of. The inventory system also leads you to having to think about what you want to bring with you. You can't just pick up everything and keep moving, so this presents new challenges. Also, certain items can be combined which will give you some space for more stuff. One example is combining a flashbang grenade with a land mine.
Overall: I enjoyed this game very much. It presented challenges that made me think about what I really wanted to do and how I would have to do it. The story telling is very good, combining cutscenes with informative devices such as emails that you come accross after hacking computers. I loved all the different ways I could solve problems, one good example is when I ran out of ammo, I was able to hack a turret and set it to target my enemies, and then proceed to pick it up and bring it with me to take out whatever laid ahead. Pretty Awesome.
8/10
"Fun, challenging and a good story. Well worth the buy if you want a good singleplayer game to fill your time if you are wiating for the upcoming autumn/fall releases."
