Could The World of Rapture Foresee The Will To Live After All its Downfall's?
The human mind love's a good mystery, its a basic functionality that every person can relate to regardless of there minds capacity of knowledge. We have heard so many stories, read so many books and watched many movies of a basic outline of what a mystery is meant to withhold. Video games also make this attempt however a lot of elements have to go into a video game such as gameplay, which in all fairness is the most important input, which is why we dont always expect it to have a gripping storyline as a book or movie.
BioShock was released in 2007 by 2K Boston which has now changed its name back to Irrational Games, was a perfect example to what the standards of a storyline in a video game should be. The excellent narrative and storytelling technique's used in BioShock was somewhat revolutionary and completely new keeping the player in the game at all times. It instantly became a classic being compared to Half Life 2 and won many game of the year awards not only being critically acclaimed by March 2010 it sold over 4 Million copies.
In March 2008 Take Two Interactive announced BioShock 2 was being developed by 2K Marin, in which this wasn't a surprise since Take Two Interactive has been boasting that BioShock could become a series like Star Wars. Although what was a surprise was that Ken Levine the Creative Director behind BioShock was not participating him nor his studio.
I was particularly pleased that the game was getting a sequel I knew that it was completely unnecessary but deep down I wanted to revisit Rapture its rusted beauty intrigued me and I also had a new favorite style, its retroness if you may became somewhat of an iconic image, but I was blown away by BioShock 2 morality system. The option to raise or harvest the Little Sister was new, refreshing and so much better, I attempt the good ending with good spirit and saved all the Little Sisters but I didnt realize how much the outcome would rely so heavily on the Little Sisters. Im not going to spoil anything but if you could save all the Little Sisters to demonstrate the path for your very own daughter to take? Id say thats ace in my book, but im not here to talk about why I like BioShock 2 better. Just go to this link.
Take Two Interactive announced at a press conference that 2K Marin would not be the essential Developers for BioShock 3 that it could past easily I quote Chairman Strauss Zelnick "We think BioShock is still one of the most important franchises in the industry, we do intend to support it; doesn't necessarily have to be at 2K Marin, but we do intend to support the franchise."
So in other words, he doesnt find 2K Marin to be the main asset for BioShock 3 it can easily be another developer, however there has been other comments from what I call "The Stalkers" or in other words huge fans have been saying that 2K Marin have cleared there schedule for BioShock 3 and that there only assisting on X-COM (like 2K Austrailla with BioSock 2).
I think its too early to speculate who will be developing BioShock 3 although I do think 2K Marin will take the project up, but you never know only time will tell.
