Believe it people, someone paid a staggering $88, 500 on a splash page by the great John Romita Sr in the iconic The Amazing Spider- man #50.
The art piece was sold at an all-cash public auction on December 17. The issue is probably one of the most pivotal moment in all the Marvel Universe when Peter Parker walks away from being Spider- Man. The issue was released in 1967 and is considered one of Romita's best work while his reign on The Amazing Spider-Man comics after Steve Ditko.

Its the most anyone has ever paid for an original art piece at a public auction, private sales tend to go unnoticed but at least it's something the buyer can brag about for the moment. Lucky son of a bitch.
